Well, what a wild fall it has been… I mean, who needs a boring life when you can have a furnace with a hairline crack in the brand new pot, right?

Although the furnace was fairly new, I was having some major glass quality issues and suspected that crack was the culprit. So, at the end of the summer, we shut down and I pulled the furnace apart. Upon inspection, there was indeed a crack - but it was hardly the main problem- it was more like a minor sideshow. I got in touch with the cullet company and we decided to drill a little vent at the top of the furnace to help with pressure while melting the glass. Fingers crossed, it seems to be helping 🤞🏻.

But, because things were just going too smoothly, a fuse blew, and we had to rush order a new one. And, to top it all off, one element was underperforming, because why not? After a few more tweaks, we were finally up and running again. It was a late start getting back into the swing of things this fall, but we're back! I'm feeling pretty hopeful that we can find some semblance of normalcy amidst all the chaos, now that the major hurdles are out of the way. Next up, making the shop look like a legit workspace instead of a construction zone 🤪.
